Ye Old Christmas Shoppe

Hidden away in a small corner in Liberty Square is one of my very favorite spots in all of Walt Disney World: The year round Christmas store, Ye Old Christmas Shoppe. I’ve been known to purchase more Disney ornaments than could be put on a single tree, but I just can’t stop! Ornaments also make the perfect souvenir or gift to take home to your friends and family.

At Ye Old Christmas Shoppe there is something for everyone.

My personal weakness is the ornaments. Most any character you can think of, there is an ornament honoring them at the shop. From the “fab 5” to princesses, and everything in between.

Out of all the ornaments though, my favorite are the ear hat inspired ornaments. They’re so intricate and detailed and best of all, it’s easy to start a collection!

Ye Old Christmas Shoppe is not just ornaments though, it’s everything Christmas related. Garland, tree skirts, wreathes, gingerbread houses, ornament stands, Santa hats, Christmas music CD’s… you name it, you can find it here. A perfect spot to cool down, shop, and get into the holiday spirit, year round.

Are you happy to have a place to visit at Disney World year round that lets you get your Christmas fix even in the dead of summer? Tell us about it!

As I’m sure you know, Disney has some amazing ornaments that you can purchase at their parks as well as online.  No matter what your style, you can find something amazing that fits your holiday decor.

Shop the Disney Store’s ornament selection here.

Stockings and Tree Accessories

Everyone needs a fancy sock to hang for Santa to fill with goodies, right?  Might as well make it a Disney one!  Disney Store online has some really cute ones that you can even personalize.

Maybe you need a new tree skirt?  Try the Mickey and Minnie Victorian tree skirt.  It’s a gorgeous rich red that feels very much in the Christmas spirit.

Holiday Food

If your family is anything like mine, the holidays just aren’t the same without lots of good things to eat.  The Disney Family website has lots of Disney inspired recipes that will help you share your love of Disney and the holidays in the most delicious way possible.  Whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savory, they have something that will make your tummy happy.  They also have lots of recipes that are allergy friendly.

Disney Parks Travel

Now, we realize that this is not the norm as far as holiday gift giving is concerned, but if you really want to blow your kids’ minds, give them a Disney vacation under the tree this year.  Hear us out.  If you know you’re going to be visiting a Disney park within the next 6 months why not just put it under the tree?  All it takes a refundable $200 deposit and you can have a lifetime of family memories all in one place.  You can even video your kids’ reaction as they open a box that says “You’re going to Disney!” inside.  That’s half the fun!  You can check Pinterest for some really creative ways to give them the news.

The Dole Whipped group will be sharing some of their favorite Disney holiday traditions with you on the Facebook page as well as Pinterest so keep your eyes out for that.  Happy Holidays, everyone!

Review of Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood & Vine

For my family’s trip to Walt Disney World early this November I was lucky enough to snag a reservation at the new Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood Studio’s Hollywood & Vine restaurant. I am SO glad I did! This meal was the perfect thing to get me in to the holiday season, and a great accompaniment to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.

This meal was very popular! We checked in at Hollywood & Vine 5 minutes before our reservation time and had a wait of about 15 minutes before we were called in. First up was meeting Goofy!

Once we were seated at our table we were given tiny cups of the most delicious hot chocolate we’ve ever tasted. Yum! Great way to start the meal. We ordered our drinks and were instructed to the buffet to get the rest of our dinner.

The food from the buffet was amazing. Much better than you’d expect from a typical buffet meal. Some of the offerings were:

Shrimp & Lobster Mac and Cheese, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asiago Ranch Chicken Breast, Pumpkin Ravioli (that looked more like pumpkin gnocci to me!), Barbequed Meatballs (a personal favorite), Marinated Flank Steak, Sweet Potato Casserole, Fish and Chips, Corn Bread Stuffing, Apricot Roasted Pork, Green Bean Casserole, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots, Salads, Rolls (including Pretzel bread!) and lots more.

While we ate we enjoyed visits from Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Mickey himself. The character interaction at this meal didn’t feel rushed at all! They took time to play with my little princess and make her smile. One small note, there were no autographs. A card with all the characters autographs was left on the table, but they did not sign autograph books.

After the characters came around we went back up to the buffet for the biggest selection of desserts I’ve ever seen. You’d better believe I had a small bite of each one!

Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood & Vine was an incredible meal! I’m so glad Disney started a seasonal Holiday meal for guests to enjoy like this. I look forward to see what they’re going to do with it in the other seasons.
