Part I: If I was an Imagineer for the Day at Disney…

I was thinking about Disney (which happens a lot) and was thinking if I was an Imagineer and could make changes what would I do? I decided to turn it into a fun thought process and share with you guys! So, I am giving myself one park (Magic Kingdom) and three wishes (uh changes) that I could make happen with the snap of my fingers and the backing of the Disney corporation.

So, what three things would I change in Magic Kingdom? Hmmm….I love the Magicdownload Kingdom and think it is perfect almost. But I know the first thing I would change is I would make Stitch’s Great Escape go away. I would actually change the whole thing to another nice dining restaurant that would have a similar experience to Be Our Guest. Magic Kingdom is in dire need of more table service restaurants and Stitch’s Great Escape was not a good idea when it was Alien Encounter and it is an even worse idea as Stitch’s Great Escape…Stitch is loveable and this attraction as is – well it is not. So, let’s gut it or tear it down and make a wonderful new table service restaurant…something fun and new!

Second, I would make Tom Sawyer’s Island more exciting and put something there that gives it a reason to go there. I know currently you can see a few little areas and walk around but what about a great attraction and dining option, even another gift shop but something to make that riverboat ride worthwhile.

Third, and this is starting to get hard because I am not willing to give up anything else in the Magic Kingdom, and warning this is not going to be popular with some of you. I think there needs to be less meet and greets and lines and more shows that you can see your favorite characters. Shows that you can sit down and watch them…similar to Beauty and the Beast at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Standing in line for hours at a time really burns the magic for those doing it, but make the option go away, and you see your characters in all their glory. Well that keeps the magic going and the mystique still alive!

So, if you were Imagineer for the day and could make a few changes what would they be? Do you agree with mine or do you love Stitch’s Great Escape? Let me know!

  1. I would get rid of the Tomorrowland Speedway. That has got to be (besides Stitch’s Great Escape) the worst attraction in MK. The lines are so long for such a dreadful experience. A waste of prime real estate in my opinion. Replace it with something from Meet the Robinsons (underrated, imho) or even tie in to the upcoming movie Tomorrowland. I know Disney can do better for Tomorrowland.. Just look at the amazing job they did with New Fantasyland. I can’t believe they are in the same park!

    • You are so right about the Tomorrowland Speedway area needing a reboot. That area is a huge area and could be so much more. You can find this sort of ride all over the place and such a waste for Disney. Just think of all the options between things like Meet the Robinsons, The Incredibles, Up and even Wall-E could turn that area into an amazing new place. If I could just get a few minutes with an Imagineer that they HAD to spill the beans because certainly it has had to cross their mind.
