Carsland is part of Disney’s California Adventure, in the Disneyland Resort. This new land is the most immersive area of a Disney park I have ever seen. This is the first in a series of posts about Carsland.
The center piece attraction of Carsland is Radiator Springs Racers. For Walt Disney World veterans, it is the same car vehicles and track type as Test Track in Epcot–but a far better attraction. There is a height requirement for this ride: you must be 40 inches in order to ride this attraction. Unfortunately, my 2-year-old did not make the cut so we took turns riding with my sister.
The queue is filled with details and theming from Radiator Springs. They have done an incredible job making you feel immersed in the world of Cars.
You load into Cars from the movie and you go on a journey through Radiator Springs. The residents of Radiator Springs are getting you ready for a race: get your tires from Luigi and fueled up at Flo’s!
Once you are ready for the race you leave the garage and race against another car. It’s a smooth, yet thrilling enough. I am not the biggest fan of thrill rides and I enjoyed it. There were no major hills, but you do go very fast!
The lines for this attraction get extremely long during the day.
Here are some things you can do to not wait in line for hours:
- Get to California Adventure for rope drop and get a Fastpass for later in the day.
- Utilize the single-rider line for very short waits. Even if you are in a group you can all ride in the single rider line (just not together).
- If you are staying at one of the 3 Disneyland-resort hotels, utilize the Extra Magic Hour and ride during that time.
We rode the ride during the Extra Magic Hour and waited maybe 15 minutes, so it wasn’t bad at all.
This is a definite must do for anyone at California Adventure whether you are a Cars fan or not!
I can’t wait to take my son there, it looks like so much fun. Good to know about the 40″ as he is still a few shy of that.

Yes, the 40 inch limit is important, but Carsland is heaven for little boys!
